This course will enable you to communicate in Portuguese using some  simple and effective vocabulary, useful expressions and idioms. Among other topics, this course will cover: introductions & greetings, family & friends, shopping, going out, getting through customs, catching a taxi/bus, exchanging money, booking a hotel, eating out and much more.

Classes are on Wednesdays from 6pm to 7.30pm.

The Brazilian Portuguese Course for Fun & Travel is divided into 12 lessons, as follows:

Lesson 1 - Greetings & Introductions

At the end of this lesson, you will be able to greet people, introduce yourself, say what you do for a living, introduce somebody else and ask how people are.

Lesson 2 - Family & Friends

At the end of this lesson, you will be able to talk about your family and friends, say what they do and where they come from.

Lesson 3 - Airport & Exchanging Money

At the end of this lesson, you will be able to get through customs giving the immigration officer all the details about your stay in Brazil; you will also be able to exchange money.

Lesson 4 - Catching a Taxi or a Bus

At the end of this lesson, you will be able to ask the taxi driver to take you to a certain location,  ask how much it cost and pay for the ride. You will also be able to buy a bus ticket to go to another city, ask about prices, how long the trip takes and what time it gets to your destination.

Lesson 5 - Time & Directions

At the end of this lesson, you will be able to ask and give the time and dates; ask and give directions and talk about places here in New Zealand and in Brazil.

Lesson 6 - Feelings & Personal Appearance

At the end of this lesson, you will be able to say how you are feeling, describe yourself, your friends and family members.

Lesson 7 - Booking a Hotel and Eating Out

At the end of this lesson, you will be able to book a hotel and make your check in/check out; ask about restaurants in town, order a meal and ask for the bill. You will also learn about typical Brazilian foods & drinks.

Lesson 8 - Shopping

At the end of this lesson, you will be able to shop for clothes, shoes, food and drink.You will be able to ask for prices, colours and sizes.

Lesson 9 - Going Out

At the end of this lesson, you will be able to ask about places to go and see,  how to get there and how much is costs.

Lesson 10 - Telephoning & Spelling/Numbers

At the end of this lesson, you will be able to make a telephone call, answer a telephone call, take and leave a message. You will also be able to spell names of people and places.and write down telephone numbers.

Lesson 11 - Hobbies & Interests

At the end of this lesson, you will be able to tell people about your hobbies and interests, likes and dislikes and what you do in your free time. You will also learn how to sing a Brazilian song.

Lesson 12 - Brazilian Party

At the end of the course, we will practice your Portuguese in a real situation mixing and mingling with some Brazilians at a Brazlian party with typical foods, drinks, music, dance & lots of fun.
